MA(Oxon), FRSA. Managing Partner of Adams Associates and Director of Adams PayCheck, has over 20 years corporate experience in organisation, remuneration, and performance matters for boards, remuneration committees, high performing executives and other groups.

He is a member of the Coaching Forum at Templeton College, Oxford and of Oxford Business Alumni at the Said Business School. He is a founder member of the Society of Organisational Learning in Scotland (SoL), maintains the regular Dialogue Group at Meadowhead, and writes for the Financial Times' HR Expert advisory system. His earlier experience covers international finance, major charitable projects and international consulting.

Fiona is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and has held senior positions in both the private and public sectors. She began her career with Procter & Gamble and has worked in the services sector, health, communications, education and the media. She is currently the MD of a marketing consultancy, Chair of the IOD’s Edinburgh Branch, and represents Scotland on the Ofcom Consumer Panel. She has previously held positions as the Chair of The Essentia Group, Vice Chair of the Broadcasting Council for Scotland, Vice Chair of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, and as a board member of the Edinburgh Healthcare Trust. She has worked as a mentor on the Scottish Enterprise ‘Women into the Boardroom initiative’ and for Business Mentoring Scotland and was a member of the Secretary of State’s Expert Panel on the Media in the run-up to the opening of the Scottish Parliament. Fiona teaches ‘Effective Marketing Strategies’ on the IoD’s Company Direction Programme and is a member of the SDDC faculty of coaches and mentors.

Emma is a Partner in Macrobert's Solicitors' Employment Law Group and is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in employment law. She is identified as "a leader in her field" by Chambers Law directory. Emma has 10 years' experience of conducting Employment Tribunal and Employment Appeal Tribunal hearings throughout the UK and she regularly advises on disability, sex, race, sexual orientation, transsexual and religious discrimination issues; she plays a key role in the firm's Employment Group providing advice on all matters of employment law. Emma also heads up the Management Development section of the firm's training and development arm, and frequently writes and delivers training on management development and employment law.

John Curran is a Marketing Graduate and Chartered Accountant who has held Financial Director and Managing Director positions across a broad range of business sectors. He currently holds several non-executive chairmanships, and is an investment ‘Angel’. John has been involved with the growth companies for over 10 years, both as a non-executive appointee of institutional investors, and as an executive director in the MBI team to Pillans & Wilson Limited. John tutors on the SDDC’s ‘Role of the non-executive director’ courses in Scotland.

Christopher wide ranging international business experience at Board level and in senior management positions with Unilever, Nairn International (Forbo Nairn) in Europe and Australia, as Chief Executive of the Sea Fish Industry Authority, Chairman of Interplastic AG, Austria, and Regional Director of Pipeline Scandinavia. Experienced in all aspects of General Management, including start-ups, business development (mergers and acquisitions), company turnaround and restructuring.

Michael has extensive business experience in both the public and private sectors and in senior management at the Hays Group, Miles Druce-GKN and Tricentrol International Oils. Public sector roles have included the creation of venture capital funds and support of small and medium enterprises in Scotland, the rest of UK, the rest of the EU and in Eastern Europe. He has experience of industrial engineering, production management, sales and marketing and strategic direction as a general manager and company director. Michael has been an expert advisor to the EU’s Leader & Medinvest programmes, was educated at IMD in Lausanne, is a Fellow of CIPD and is the Programme Director at the IoD’s Scottish Director Development Centre.

Dean is director of a strategic change consultancy and an NED for an NHS Health Authority. Dean has experience of the automotive industries, construction, distribution, education, government, health, manufacturing and the media. He specialises in organisational development, strategic planning and executive/management development and is a lecturer, broadcaster and consultant at board level. Dean teaches change management on the IoD’s Company Direction Programme.

MA (Hons) MSc (Eng) MErgS Cpsychol. Is a Chartered Occupational Psychologist and qualified Ergonomist. She has worked for Standard Life, West Midlands Police, and Scottish and Newcastle plc. She specialises in behavioural change and has undertaken work at strategic and operational levels for a range of assignments including John Menzies, Motorola, Compaq and the Scottish Executive. Elaine is a member of the SDDC’s team for director development networks.

Donald is Professor in Strategic Management at the University of Glasgow. He has experience of strategic change and innovation in businesses. Recently his work has focused on conducting strategic transformation projects with private and public sector bodies. He has a BSc (Hons) from Strathclyde, a PhD from Cambridge University and an MBA from Kingston Business School. Don teaches strategy on the IoD’s Company Direction Programme and is a member of the SDDC’s faculty for director development networks.

Jan has over 20 years public sector experience and was subsequently CEO of a private limited company. She is now self employed, providing advice to a range of companies and organisations. Jan was a Senior Civil Servant in both the Cabinet Office, London and the Scottish Executive and had responsibility for the food industry, as well as working with businesses in the farming, fishing and rural sectors for many years. Having sat on several public sector boards and then been CEO, Accountable Officer and Director of a private company which was accountable to Parliament for its funding, she has seen both public and private sector boards at work.

His work has focused on the development of effective leadership and management skills. In addition to the UK and Europe, he has worked in Hong Kong, Cyprus, the Falklands, America and Canada. He has supported companies wishing to achieve IIP and provides mentoring and coaching to directors wishing to achieve change. He has consulted with large and small businesses including The Scottish Executive, Deloitte & Touche, Scottish Power, George Watson College, United Distillers and Shepherd and Wedderburn. He is the IoD’s Head of Coaching & Mentoring in Scotland.

BSc, MBA: has operated at Board level in a career spanning engineering, production, marketing and general management. He has worked in the UK, Belgium and France. As a divisional MD with Christian Salvesen, he was responsible for providing logistics services to Marks & Spencer. His early career was in ICI, followed by two years in recruitment with Tyzack & Partners. More recently he was managing consultant with Penna Plc, delivering executive coaching services. Allan is a member of the IoD’s coaching and mentoring team.

Chairman of the Taylor Group specialising in the manufacture of metal components to the heavy engineering and electronics sectors. He is also a non-executive director of Clyde Marine plc and an Honorary Professor at the University of Stirling working with the Department of Entrepreneurship. In addition, Robbie has wide experience of working on the boards of several Non-Government Organisations, having been Chairman of Falkirk Enterprise Action Trust; Forth Valley Enterprise; and Investors in People Scotland. He has also been a Board member of Cumbernauld Development Corporation and Forth Valley Education Business Partnership.

Ralph trained originally as a mechanical engineer and later became a Chartered Accountant with Coopers & Lybrand. With further experience as an audit manager, and after lecturing on accounting, he joined a practice based in Scotland. Ralph’s work is divided between practice work, consultancy and lecturing/writing in the UK and overseas. Ralph teaches ‘Finance for non financial directors’ on the IoD’s Company Direction Programme.

David has wide commercial experience in global marketing with blue chip companies including Del Monte, Bacardi and Finlandia. He worked at Charles Letts as Group Marketing Director and was a member of its MBO/turnround team. He has extensive experience of working in Europe, Scandinavia and the US and assignments have included: packaging, the fish industry, drinks, consumer durables, forestry and software. David is a member of the SDDC’s faculty and is the manager on one of the IoD’s director development networks.

Michael is a business advisor and consultant to a number of Boards on strategy and performance. A graduate in Economics, he has worked in marketing with Reckitt & Colman and the Electronics Rental Group. He served as head of Corporate Services with the SDA before returning to industry in 1990 where he was CEO of a global electronics company. Mike has lectured The Role of the Company Director and The Role of the Non-Executive Director on the IoD’s Company Direction programme for the past 7 years.
